Finding True Happiness: Lessons from Matthew Perry's Passing Through Yoga
Nov 03, 2023Today, I want to share some thoughts that have been swirling in my mind since the news of Matthew Perry's death . He was best known for his role as Chandler Bing on "Friends." Friends is my favourite TV Show. He was my favourite actor in the show.
With a net worth of $120 million, it seemed like he had it all – fame, fortune, and success. Yet, his passing serves as a poignant reminder that happiness can't always be bought.
I read Matthew's book as soon as it was available. It gave me some insight into addiction.
Life is a journey that often takes us through unexpected twists and turns.
The Power of Yoga:
Yoga offers several different paths to achieving happiness. We learn to practice contentment and acceptance (Santosha).
Money is useful, especially in a world where the cost of living keeps rising. But, it's not the end-all and be-all of a fulfilling life.
I often think about where I would be today without the anchor of yoga in my life. It has been my sanctuary, my source of strength, and a guiding light during moments of uncertainty.
The Inner Quest for Happiness:
Matthew Perry's passing is a stark reminder that we can't control external circumstances. Even immense wealth can't guarantee happiness. True happiness is a journey that starts from within. It's about finding peace, joy, and contentment in your own heart.
I encourage all you to take a moment to reflect on your own path. Take time for self-care and nurture healthy habits. Remember that happiness is an inside job. Don't wait for external factors to dictate your joy.
Thank you Matthew for sharing your story in your book. Thank you for sharing your talent as an actor and comedienne. Most of all, thank you for sharing your story about addiction and helping others. Rest in peace Matthew.
