An Effective Yoga Practice Means Meeting The Mood

Greeting Yogis!

Let's dive into a topic that's close to my heart – the intricate dance between mood and yoga practice. Picture this: someone on the verge of a panic attack. Someone  casually throws out the "just calm down" advice. It's like telling a storm to settle—it just doesn't work. Been there, felt that. Have you?

For the same reason, asking someone buzzing with restlessness and anxiety to jump into restorative yoga might not hit the right note. Don't get me wrong; restorative yoga can be fantastic for mental health. But it's not a one-size-fits-all solution. We're all unique, and what suits one might not vibe with another. No cookie-cutter approaches here!

Imagine suggesting to someone battling major depression, "Just get out of bed and exercise, you'll feel better!" Well-intentioned, perhaps, but let's be real! When depression hits hard, even getting out of bed can feel like an Everest-sized challenge. It's a different ball game from regular sadness, and we need to approach it with the right kind of care.

Enter restorative yoga – a gentle starting point for the Tamasic student. Especially when paired with the appropriate breath-work. And hey, for those days when your yoga mat feels too far away, restorative yoga in bed is a game-changer. It's all about meeting ourselves where we are.

This philosophy was ingrained in me through my training. Both, with the Lifeforce Yoga Healing Institute USA. Plus, with Dr Timothy McCall in his Yoga as Medicine training. Both emphasised the importance of tailoring our approach to each individual. Understanding that one size doesn't fit all on the path to holistic well-being.

So, let's embrace the diversity of your experience. Honour the unique journey your yoga practice takes. Your mood will dictate what your needs on any particular day.

My online 12 week coaching course will teach you this.

Which designed to teach yogis and future yoga lovers who may be feeling stressed, down or anxious how to take a holistic approach to their mental health so they can have more energy and feel less stressed and happier. It launches again in February 2024.

Together, we'll navigate the ebbs and flows of mood transformation. To craft a personalised approach that speaks to the soul.

Here's to holistic well-being and the beautiful journey ahead!

With love,

Liz
